CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
1. Team Scramble Match Play – 18 holes. In a Scramble, each player in a team tees off on each hole, and the players in a twosome decide which shot was best. Every player then plays his second shot from within a club length of where the best ball has come to rest, and the procedure is repeated until the hole is finished. Each golfer is NOT required to contribute a shot during play. In match play, two players (or two teams) play each hole as a separate contest against each other. The party with the lower score wins that hole, or if the scores of both players or teams are equal the hole is "halved" (drawn). Points will be recorded for the teams as well as total putts. Remember a putt is only counted as a putt when a golfer's ball is on the green.
2. 1 point for a hole won. 0 points for a halved hole. A foursome trophy goes to each winning member of the foursome. THERE WILL BE CAP ON THE TOTAL POINTS WON. The maximum amount of points a twosome can will be awarded is 3 points. For example if a twosome is up 5 holes (8-3) with 1 hole remaining and the opposing team wins the last hole to finish the match 8-4, the winning team will have be up +3 points instead of +4. The point totals from all the foursomes will be added together to determine the Hackers Championship.
3. FOURSOME PLAYOFF - In the event of a tie within a foursome, there will be a putt-off within the people of the foursome for the foursome trophy. The two-man team with the lowest number of putts in their match will putt second and fourth. In the event of a tie between putts, a coin toss will used to determine which team will putt second and fourth. A putt of 10 feet will start the foursome playoff. The object of the playoff is to hole out the putt in one stroke. All members of the foursome will putt. If one member of a twosome holes out the putt, then their twosome will receive one point for the playoff. If both members of the twosome hole out the putt then their twosome will receive two points for the playoff. If nobody in a twosome holes out the putt their twosome will receive 0 points. If a twosome has more points than the other twosome, then they will be declared the winner. If the twosomes tie, they will putt again but this time from a distance of 5 feet. If a tie still exists after the playoff has reached 5 feet, then the distance will move back to 10 feet and the process will repeat itself. These playoff points will not be added to the Hacker Team Championship points.
4. CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF - In the case of a tie between the teams for the Hacker Plaque Championship, the Captains of each team will pick two representatives from their own team to compete in a putting playoff. The format of the Championship playoff will be the same format as the foursome playoff as described in the Foursome Playoff section. Putting order within the teams will be determined by the Team Captain.
